my sir once told me that when we breathe we intake many gases but since all of the cells in the human body requires only oxygen from the blood to break down glucose for energy rest of the gases are exhaled out later...but i'm not 100% sure u can google it...by d way good question..i'm looking for a better answer....

yeah now i'm sure we inhale OXYGEN RICH AIR i.e it contains other gases also..u might be knowing that respiration includes metabolism..so our hemoglobin only carries oxygen to other cells which help in breaking down of glucose for production of energy and then when we exhale(rest of the gases) we breathe out CARBON-DI-OXIDE rich air i.e it also contains other gases..we inhale approximately 21% oxygen and moreover inhaling 100% oxygen is harmful to health... i tried my best but if u still have doubts feel free to ask...
