(a-b) (a+b) = a^2 - b^2

so 1.05 = 1 + 0.5 and 9.5 = 1 - 0.5

1.05 * 9.5 = (1 + 0.5) (1 - 0.5) = (1)^2 - (0.5)^2 = 1-(0.25) = 0.75

oh sorry big mistake actually there is a printing mistake in the question itself to use the identity the question should be 1.05 multiplied by 0.95
